About
Helix Installation

Intro!

Join us as we dive into an inspiring coral reef conservation project in Batangas! This video showcases how we’re working together to protect fragile marine ecosystems by installing helix mooring systems—a sustainable alternative to traditional anchors that often cause significant coral damage.

The journey begins with a briefing by ICM (Integrated Coastal Management) on the procedures for installing helix anchors. Watch as our team demonstrates the equipment and techniques, including knot tying, splicing, and preparing helix anchors for installation.

Diving
into the locations

Next, we dive into the action! See the 1.5-meter-long helix anchors carefully embedded in appropriate locations, with exact depths recorded to determine the perfect length of the main rope. Local youth and community partners also lend their creativity by painting mooring buoys, with green buoys designated for local dive boats.

This project highlights how mooring systems protect the habitats of diverse marine life while promoting sustainable tourism. Together, we’re creating a brighter future for our oceans!

Stay until the end as we celebrate the project’s completion and the teamwork that made it possible.

Let’s protect our coral reefs—one helix anchor at a time! 🌊💙
